Let me explain 🌎 1️⃣ It’s my job and my passion. My biggest goal when I started my business was to travel for work and now I finally get to do just that! It’s my favourite part of my career and one I’ve spent over 7 years working towards 🥰 2️⃣ I try to balance out my travel. I eat plant based, I reduce my plastic use, I buy less clothing, I recycle like a pro - and so much more. I have done beach cleans across the globe, presented a sustainability series for @bbcearth, set up @staywildswim (made from regenerated ocean plastic), produced my own reusable bottles (with profits going to an ocean charity) and have created the living consciously crew (an eco-friendly support group with 12,000 members). I hope that I can work towards balancing out the impacts of my travel by working on these larger projects, changing other elements of my lifestyle and inspiring thousands of others to live more consciously. 3️⃣ I carbon offset any travel I do and I try to support airlines who have strong sustainability frameworks to counteract their emissions (E.g. @airnz). 4️⃣ When I do travel, I do it responsibly, working with eco resorts whenever I can. And if I can’t? I always contact the manager or PR team afterwards with suggestions on how they can be more eco-friendly. I also try and get hands on wherever I am - whether that’s doing beach cleans, volunteering or helping projects such as coral replanting programs 🌊 Ultimately - I’m not perfect but I’m trying my best. I know that won’t be good enough for a lot of you, but I ask you to respect my efforts 🌎 The hate which I have received over the past week about this has honestly broken me. It has been the most extreme I’ve ever had. It made me anxious to go on social media and not want to talk about sustainability at all, for fear of another onslaught.
