The crew reflected a cross-section of Europe. They were all volunteers, all there to rescue people forced by climate change, conflict, political persecution and other life-threatening circumstances to make the insanely dangerous journey by dinghy across the Mediterranean. This was Europe at its best, a group of people all with different life stories, all speaking different languages coming together to help. This image portrays a woman saved by these volunteers.
