My mom’s birthday is today as it’s past midnight now and her visit with us has flown by. Why do all the most precious moments make time a blur? None of us are ready for her to leave yet and we’re already concocting plans for her next visit. I’ve hardly made time to journal this week as it’s been a sweet whirlwind and staying present in all of it was the best gift. I can honestly say that none of us are quite the same, my mom included. Something beautiful, sacred and miraculous enveloped all of us and I suppose she carried the season of springtime with her into our lives with new vitality, blooms and roots that grew deeper, and we all grew together in that too. Between both of our moms, I’d say we’re the most blessed of any. And of all the larger than life adventures, travels and experiences that I’ve had, nothing, absolutely nothing compares to the gift of being a family, of nurturing love, making a home and living our moments together. My heart is full, and humbled, and so very thankful. The grind of daily life and our own learning curves can make us lose sight of the gifts and miracles that grace us, and I am just grateful that even so, Love always finds a way to remind us of it again, with a gentle ferocity to stay close to it always. The paradoxes that bewilder yet resuscitate, the very entity that builds hope and strengthens faith. My wish for the season ahead and all seasons that follow is that each day we reflect on the people we cherish and that our miracles never lose their wonder in our hearts and minds.
