Magnum Photos has partnered with @maisondjournalistes (MDJ) for World Press Freedom Day 2019 to create a publication and exhibition entitled 'D'ici' / 'From Here'. The project combines the personal experiences of exiled journalists and Magnum photographers around the notions of exile, repression and resilience.

Using the camera and the pen, the project offers a glimpse at the lived experiences of individuals who defend their right of freedom of expression in contexts where it is constantly under threat, from detention and exile to the difficulties adapting to new life far away from home.

An exhibition of the work is on display at Hôtel de Ville in Paris until May 31.
