I am truly heart broken about CBS’ decision to pass on #TheRepublicOfSarah, not only because we all found an incredible, collaborative family with one another out there in Vancouver, but also because I think the story Jeffrey Paul King created would have added something truly beautiful and positive to the world. And I think we need more of that right about now. Last week I posted about sitting in the posture of hopeful expectation while I waited for the word, and not “dress rehearsing tragedy”, and I can tell you, I think that was the best decision I could have made. I experienced a beautiful hopeful season, and am no more disappointed now than I would have been had I spent the last 6 weeks expecting the worst. Hope is vulnerable. It’s super vulnerable to want something so much and I am broken hearted, but I gotta say, I’d rather be broken hearted right now than indifferent. Being broken hearted in this moment means that I gave my whole heart to this project, and that’s what I want to do with my life. In every opportunity that is presented to me, I want to live wholeheartedly, and love wholeheartedly and hope with wild abandon. I think I would miss out on so many beautiful things in life if I lived any other way. I’m grateful to #JeffreyPaulKing for his gorgeous script, to @awfricke, @jeffgrosvenor and #MarkMartin for their amazing leadership, to #MarcWebb for giving me one of the best director experiences I’ve ever had, and for my fellow #MorrisvilleMisfits , as we call ourselves. Our cast was a gorgeous community of openhearted, talented, hilarious humans (tap on photos for tags). My heart is sad but profoundly grateful and full nonetheless. As someone very wisely said to me recently, “God only ever gives us 3 answers to our prayers: Yes, Not Yet, and I’ve got something better”.
