Niedermair, who has been working with Vogue Italia since 2017, is a rigorous artist whose every glance is meditated: "I need a reason to work. Either I'm asked, like in fashion, or I create it". For a long time one of the few women in a predominantly male scene, Niedermair thinks it is necessary to discuss gender balance again. "We have been so accustomed to the ‘male gaze’ that we think it is the only one. I photograph exclusively women, I’ve always been interested in intervening conceptually on female identity. And then I find that - especially in fashion - every image is eminently political. Those who create images have an enormous responsibility. And I feel it very strongly".
