@ssuperssportt I don't think that's the point being made. What about a 16 year old woman that finds out she's pregnant within weeks of being incestuously raped and being forced to carry that child, possibly with birth defects from incest, to term and largely be condemned to welfare because of her age or face a penalty of years is prison is right or humane? Sometimes it's just the least bad option. Regardless, far too many of these "pro-lifers" not only oppose social programs that would benefit these women but also oppose education better education, counseling and contraceptives. If you read the posted quote, that's the whole point: ending abortion is a fine goal, but then you have to support the mechanisms that support it. I don't anyone in this world thinks about is fun and awesome and should become undertaken with no care or thought. It's like the "Planned Parenthood" defunding debate: they were painted as an abortion group, ignoring the fact that their main goal is to prevent unwanted pregnancies in the first place.

@water1goddess Disagree completely. Laws are supposed to be precise and exact. It's not hard to write in exceptions. It's perfectly valid to criticise a law for failing to amount for exceptions that were brought up during the law's debate. Democrats literally said, "We would like to see an exception added for rape victims," and Republicans literally said, " No." Which means these people, who have the ability to obviously pass these laws, went out of their way to ensure a rape victims faces a 99 year jail term if they get an abortion, while their rapist would get a maximum of 20 years. To say it's rare and not with debating missed the point. Republicans specifically did not want rape victims to be exempt, and Republicans want women who get abortions after being raped to go to jail got longer than their rapists.

@ssuperssportt Most pro-lifers are Republicans and therefore also against these social programs. Besides, these new laws are ridiculous. Under new Alabama laws, the penalty for getting an abortion after being raped is stiffer than the penalty for rape. And some states want to jail women for having miscarriages. It's insanity.

@water1goddess It's not propaganda. Grab a history book. When doctors aren't doing abortions, women try different things, including doing it themselves. And with this new archaic law, that means 99 years in jail for those women. It's endangering lives by pretending it saves lives.

11 and 13 girls in Argentina were raped and got pregnant. They and their moms wanted them to have an abortion, the doctors made them wait weeks so that never happened. Instead they had a c section and both babies died.

Ridiculous spin. Of course pro-lifers want all babies to have basic necessities. What do you think so many government programs provide? Millions of $ in tax money pay for these free "entitlement programs".
