She lives on in this way still inspiring others. She has a chance to fulfill her wish to save someones life from lung cancer. Please read along... it could help you or a loved one. Her name was Doris Dooyema. She was a wife, mother, farmer, caretaker, but to me she was more than my just my Grandmother. She was my best friend, confidant, therapist, inspiration and source of unconditional love. Her loss still aches in my heart. She was a non smoker so when she was diagnosed with lung cancer at 78 we were confused... until we found out lung cancer can happen to ANYONE. She bravely battled stage 4 lung cancer for less than 6 months and I watched the women I adored... my source of strength... fight till her last breath. In this devastation I remembered how she lived her life in service to others always wanting to make a difference. In the face of loss I remembered her words to me saying she hoped to inspire others with her fight. So onward I go, hearing her in my heart, knowing her story will NEVER get old. Every five minutes a woman is diagnosed with lung cancer. Lung cancer is still the number one cancer killer. Knowing I am up against these facts I share hoping to save someone or their loved one from the same fate as my grandmother.
