I had not yet researched their meaning, or the symbolism associated with their presence, but I remember finding it so strange that everywhere including my pillowcase had ladybugs. They found their way into my fridge, my shower, even the trunk of my car. I called a friend who suggested a quick web search, and I found that some believe they’re a sign of pregnancy, or good luck if you’re hoping to become pregnant. Even just a few months of trying can leave anyone feeling deflated, so it was just the right sprinkle of hope I needed. Three weeks later we found out I was pregnant. I have no idea what any of it means. I’m as much of a realist as I am an idealist, but I do know that hope is the most powerful medicine.
