Austere and compelling, sensuous and ethereal, ‘Beautiful Girl Lying Down’ from 1958-59 is an emblematic example of Euan #Uglow’s lifelong inspection of the human #form. The #artist’s measured #painterly style creates images in which the #model has a presence that is almost physical and yet remains psychologically at a distance.
Uglow’s works powerful poetic works were shown alongside those of his peers Lucian #Freud, Francis Bacon and Frank #Auerbach at @テート・ギャラリー Britain’s ‘All Too Human’ #exhibition.
