Today I spent some introspective time with my friend of eighteen years @katie.s.rigg. We sat outside the Lincoln Memorial and listened to the words of Dr. King and couldn’t help thinking how timely they are, still. “Now is the time to make justice a reality for all... We cannot walk alone. And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back.” After today, I feel more invigorated and more committed than ever to the beloved community that Dr King dreamt of. One day we will all be able to say with conviction: “Free at last. Free at last. Thank God almighty we are free at last!” .
EDIT: thank you to everyone who has called me in about my use of a plastic straw. Environmental justice is an issue I care very deeply about and I look forward to the day when finding cardboard or reusable straws in your average coffee shop is normalized. In the meantime, I commit to traveling with my own :)
