We're very sad to announce that our male lion, M’bari, passed away today. M’bari was 15 years old and had been under veterinary care for some time due to age-related medical issues.

M’bari was a well-known resident of the San Diego Zoo—a majestic lion that guests could often see lounging with his mate, Etosha. His early morning and late afternoon roars could be heard throughout the entire Zoo. Long may he reign. 🦁
