The nostalgia for Istanbul-raised designer Melisa Denizeri's simpler, sunnier upbringing has given rise to her new namesake swimwear label @denizeri_swim, one that forges the current craze for fashion-forward bathing suits with ’90s utilitarianism beloved by her mother’s generation. Denizeri spent summers sailing the Aegean Sea with her family as a child, and those experiences in the great outdoors have clearly shaped her creative vision.
In the 26-piece collection, which launched this week, many of the bathing suits have been created with practical concerns in mind. Unlike the risqué, itsy-bitsy swimwear brands that are currently abound on Instagram, Denizeri’s two-piece sets offer reassuring coverage, with SPF 50+–equipped Italian fabric, even at their most skin-baring.
