Growing up, I didn’t understand women like I do now, nor did I respect women in the same way I do now. I had a different mentality. I wish I was taught to appreciate women in our community more than I was. We are strong and empathetic, tough and delicate, intellectual and brave, beautiful and vulnerable all at once.... and it takes being bold to embrace all of those things. If it wasn’t for those two books (along with many strong women in my life), I wouldn’t have the same perspective on women that I do today.
