This is giving me so many feelings.
It was such an incredible honor to give the 2018 Commencement Address to the women of Barnard College.
Flash forward one year, and that speech became the WOLFPACK book and movement that is inspiring and uniting girls and women of all ages.
When these 8 @barnardcollege grads of 2019 sent me these photos, it was so emotional for me to know what WOLFPACK meant to them. It felt full circle— like proof that what we all want in the world, and are calling for in the world, we are in fact CREATING in the world.
This year’s graduates:
You are the the ones we’ve been waiting for.
You are the Wolves.
And, together, we are going to storm the valleys and change the game forever.
So in honor of all our grads — including the 2019 badass Barnard 8: Seanna, Anneliese, Maya, Chloe, Yudi, Rebekah, Arianna, and Bella — I’m giving away 20 copies of WOLPACK for you to gift to a graduating Wolf in your life.
In the comments, tell us about a grad you are celebrating this season — It can be a grad from Pre-K to Post-Doc (this book is for all ages!) — Tell us one thing about your grad that makes you believe in their power to lead the Pack forward. We will pick 20 so watch your direct messages for a note from us!
And congrats to grads across the nation and globe — I hope you can feel the Pack celebrating you!

UPDATE: The grads you are celebrating in these comments are AMAZING. Wolves from 3 years old to 50 — their stories are incredibly inspiring and they are the future of the Pack!! We’ve selected at random the 20 winners (I wish there could be 100!) so if you have a comment from me under yours, check your Instagram messages! 🐺🐺🐺

@abbywambach my sweet, mildly crazy, kinesthetic, soulfilled Little Middle daughter, Holland Dorothy (FUN FACT: named Holland after her Dutch great-grandmother from the Netherlands ?? who, before her passing, taught my son to yell “HUP Holland HUP!” when he saw a ⚽️ so as my belly got big he started poking it and yelling “HUP HOLLAND!”???) graduated from Pre-K last week and this little one literally howls and roars at the moon...my wild little Leo with the soul of our old beloved chihuahua...BUT the poor thing got a tummy bug and missed her little ceremony and the singing of the songs that she’d spent weeks practicing. DID SHE CRY? (Yes) But did she handle it and sing her songs and start her summer off with a smile and strength anyway?! Yes, she did. She’s everything this world needs, and there’s no stopping this girl with heart of a Wolf as she begins Kindergarten and trying to keep up with the big kids in the fall...this girl has No Fear. She’s quite the cub...♥️

My youngest daughter graduated middle school late May. She’s overcome a lot this year as middle school can be hard socially and academically. She’s overcome a lot this year and grown well beyond our wildest dreams. Her letter to a future 8th grader brought tears to my eyes and the teacher said she was going to use hers for several students. To us the growth she has as a person meant more than growing academically. She’s exited and scared for high school and continues pursue her dream of playing for her high school soccer team. Tonight she will begin 3 nights of 3 hour tryouts to help her achieve her goal! So proud of her as these things don’t come easy to this fire cracker!!

This year I’m celebrating my daughter’s graduation from kindergarten. I’m celebrating the fact that my girl who has experienced horrific trauma, abuse and neglect is now a bright and vibrant 6 year old. She has big goals and big dreams and I’m so thankful everyday that I get to show up for her and encourage her. At this age it’s the “tiny things” such as showing kindness to others, setting goals for how many boxes of Girl Scout cookies to sell, making a card for a friend, etc. But those little things as a pup turn into the big things as she grows into a wolf and finds her way in the WOLFPACK!

Celebrating my badass wife who went from working in laundry in an assisted living facility to working as a CNA in another assisted living facility, to now honoring those people in death as she prepares them for their final resting place. She graduated this year with a degree in mortuary science and funeral directing. I’m so proud of her for following her dreams and working every day in a field she’s passionate about. Giveaway be damned, I’m proud to celebrate her in any way I can every day. Thanks for giving me another chance to celebrate her!

I oversee a masters program at UO granting degrees on physics and chemistry. I had 4 students (women and queer) bravely share their personal stories of exclusion from science and society during our annual Inclusion Symposium in Portland which strives to make all feel welcome in science. The entire crowd was in tears. . . And now these soon to be alum are already championing equity by being actively involved in mentorship of younger students, working with lgbtqia employee resource groups at their employers, and showing that the future is fierce

My grad is my new kid (one of the best gifts @lamatzke has ever given me). Cate is a fierce feminist with the kind of heart that changes people. She just graduated from @uva with her masters and was back in class the next day for the start of her PhD in Nursing. She wants to change medicine for the better - advocating for patients and bridging the gap of care between physicians and nurses. Thank you, @abbywambach for your inclusion and for honoring your Pack. ?
