Love love you all!! 🖤🖤 I’ve been pondering the lesson in all of this, and after initially beating myself up for being so careless then eventually talking myself down from devastation and being silently and sadly resigned, the lesson actually came in the form of a heavily inebriated homeless chap. As I was searching the street corner where I’d last seen it, he wandered over to me and asked if I’d lost something. I said yes, my bracelet. He was sympathetic - mumbled that he hopes I find it. I said thanks. Then as he drifted away he uttered, “or just get another one.” I was initially affronted by the presumption that the original wasn’t deeply important to me. That it didn’t matter. But then I realised he really wasn’t saying that. Sentimentality exists and is real and I’m sure we’ve all attributed great importance to material things, and that’s not to be entirely poo-pooed. But from his perspective, it really wasn’t that big a deal. And if I look at it as part of a bigger picture, it really isn’t. I loved it, I lost it. The happiness it brought me was temporary but so will the sadness be over its loss. What’s important is the family it’s related to, and that love is eternal.
