Today we remember together the service and sacrifice of British, Commonwealth and Allied armed forces and their families as we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

The Duke of Cambridge joined D-Day veterans, and members of the public, at a service in Heroes’ Square at the National Memorial Arboretum, before laying a wreath at the Normandy Campaign Memorial.

D-Day, on 6th June 1944, saw the largest amphibious operation in history, and marked the beginning of the liberation during #WW2.

An operation of extraordinary complexity, it required the collective effort of 13 nations; the support of tens of thousands of members of the French Resistance; the expertise of meteorologists, scientists and inventors; and the work and intelligence of all of Britain’s and its Allies’ secret services.

D-Day exemplifies the importance of collaboration across societies and nations and demonstrates why we “Remember Together”. The music in this film is “The Shores of Normandy”, recorded by D-Day Veteran Jim Radford for the Normandy Memorial Trust.
