The latest issue of éclat magazine is out now!
I’m introducing the kabuki play “Natsu Matsuri Naniwa Kagami” in éclat magazine this month.
This play is about an inevitable murder committed in the crowd at a summer festival in Osaka.
The theme is cruel beauty.
The darkness Daishichi, the criminal, holds in his heart makes a strong contrast with the cheerfulness of the festival in the play.
My standing figure of Daishichi holding a dagger in a modern style!
Hopefully you can have a glimpse of glimmering beauty in sadness, which is a characteristic feature in Kabuki.

夏の大阪、お祭りの雑踏の中で行われた、止むに止まれぬ殺人事件。
テーマは「残酷美」！
犯人の団七の背負う闇と、お祭りの陽気さのコントラストが色濃く出る演目。
今回は現代風に刀を持った団七の立ち姿。
歌舞伎独特の、悲しみの中に光る美しい姿をイメージしてもらえたら嬉しいです。
