We met a young man who I think is the next Mandela, 21 year old Ousman from Gambia.
We started the conversation by him explaining to us that “What everyone needs to know is that living in your home country is the best thing. Living with your family is the best thing. If you flee, there’s a reason.” I asked him how he deals with negativity that sometimes comes his way. His answer? “I don’t get angry. I try to know what this person is. I try to understand. If you want to talk, I’ll talk. If not, I won’t force you.” Ousman represents what all refugees I’ve met bring: intelligence, hard work, kindness, leadership. We have to welcome people like him into our lives. 📷: @vignetteglobal

mauitym1 I don’t think he is the issue. It is the people that are ILLEGAL and criminals fleeing their own Country. We need to vet people. It’s just the responsible thing to do.
