The two grown brothers, Jill and Francisco, work together as fishermen on their small boat called James and Jillian, named for their children. They both talked about the disappearing fish stocks and the increased money they have to spend on gas so they can go farther and farther out to find fish. Under the shade of banana palms on a warm and breezy morning, Francisco (left) prepares a new fishing net, helped by his six-year-old son, James (in orange). The settlement sits under Manila International Airport’s flight path, and we can hear planes taking off overhead. Francisco lives around the corner from his brother with their parents and his son. His wife and two older children live in a faraway province.
