After my first long trip abroad (ever), I told my wife and parents I would never travel again. Heat, no money, illness, dirt, all the discomforts of traveling to India on a shoestring affected me deeply. Only after seeing this image, and a few others, did I decide to return. . The day before taking this photograph I had fallen ill. That day the monsoon rains had also flooded the area. In some streets the water level was as high as one meter. Children jumped from traffic lights. Still, I decided to look for a doctor. I ended up in a flooded street where the Indian Army passed with large trucks, which caused high waves. I stood there up to my waist in the water holding my Pentax 67 with a flash high above my head. As always, I was set to make a quick picture, when right behind the army trucks I saw a cute little Ambassador car riding the waves of the trucks. The people inside the car saw me standing and waved at me. I was happy to make the picture through feverish eyes.” - @carldekeyzer .
