First things first: This is art. #💸Dan Edelstyn and Hilary Powell, a husband-and-wife artist team, printed their own money, sold it as art and used the funds to buy up bad debts. Then they blew up a gold-painted van filled with paper slips stamped with the word “DEBT” in block capital letters. Their hope is that the work will “get people into a conversation around money and debt,” Hilary said. “We started noticing that some kids coming to our children’s school didn’t even have shoes to wear,” Dan said.
