On Anne Frank's 90th birthday, I keep reflecting on this quote from her. I first read the Diary of Anne Frank as a young woman, and while in Amsterdam this past April on my #IAmBecoming tour, I was deeply moved by my visit to the Anne Frank House, where she and her family lived in hiding for more than two years. There, I saw this quote on the wall—it reflects the timelessness of her truth, the courage of a young woman who saw the power in her own voice, even when she was confronted with unimaginable horror and difficulty. What inspires me is her instinct not just to use her voice on its own, but to use it to connect with those around her—to work for something larger than herself. I hope that her example inspires all of us to speak up just a little louder, a little more bravely in our own lives today. And if we all do that, then together, we can shine a little more light on what we share—the common humanity that unites us all. #Anne90

Dear Mrs Obama,
My name is Homa. I’m Iranian and live in Tehran.
I always intensely admire you.
I hope you have heard about Iranian women’s civil disobedience against the Iran‘s mandatory hijab law.
Morality police arrests women and forces into a security van to be taken into detention because of their veil. They even seizure cars and fine drivers because of improper hijab.
Women in Iran need international help to be heard. We’re not asking feminists or foreign governments to come and save us. We wanted Leaders, especially women, to see that Iranian women simply want the choice.
Dear Mrs Obama, there is urgent need for help to force Iran‘s regime stop arresting, prisoning, and bothering women because of improper hijab or demanding to have choice.
I would be truly grateful if you as one of the most popular, powerful, and influential woman around the world help and support Iranian women.
Thank you for your kind attention.
Warmest regards

Yes!!! I’ve been to Amsterdam 4 times and each time I’ve visited, I’ve gone to her house and cried like a baby! What has always struck me is that through their peril, they tried to have a semblance of normalcy. They had class/school and didn’t stop learning and dreaming. If I may compare, I often think of American slaves teaching themselves to read and how they tried to survive against all incomprehensible odds. It is the triumph of the human spirit that proves unstoppable. ❤️ Btw-Thanks for everything!!! You’re the best!

Anna did not live to see the liberation of Europe. She like many Jews were violently exterminated by a regime who believed in the supremacy of white race. The actual reasons behind this carnege was economy.Jews controlled the economy and Hitler desperately tried to portray them as malicious a contagious disease which it should be contained. The rest of the German population jumped in the bandwagon while wagons filled with innocent kids ended up in concentration camps.

Hej Mrs Michelle Obama I replyed to your comment on with reference to Anne Franks Quote, thanking you for the reminder! I would like to also add a P.S. to that comment. That is self preservation is the law of nature and that goes also for human nature. One must think and help ones self before you can help others! Sometimes we tend to forget about that, while helping others and sometime people and governments take advantage

Everything about this ? Thank you for this beautiful reflection. As a woman, and a woman of colour, this message resonates deep. Funnily, I found my own voice when I gave birth to my son 5 years ago, who I raise to speak his own truth and respect the truth of all those around him, irrespective of gender but wholly as a human being trying to make an impact in our own little ways. ????
