“I documented the lives of Old Colony Mennonites migrating as farm workers between Ontario, Canada, and the two dozen or more colonies in Mexico from which they’d come in the spring, and to which they’d return in the fall. For 10 years I photographed their migration and their traditionalist lifestyles, as well as the culture clash between the north and the south. When I started, most colonies were without electricity and automobiles. By the time I finished, all but the most conservative had converted to a more liberal way of being after a long, divisive in-church battle. .
On Sundays, teenage boys and girls would walk the dirt roads of the colony and flirt with one another. As a non-Mennonite, I was free to drive a vehicle. One Sunday, I shot this through my truck mirror.” - @larrysgeneralstore
