I’ll always remember when I had you sign my dads hat in Douglasville, GA at freewheeling Honda! There was a long line. It must’ve been maybe early 2000’s. You were there with someone else, with a funny name. I remember I liked him too. My dad made me wait in the line as he watched my little brother, and when I got to the front he handed me his “Lockheed Martin” hat that had a reindeer on it and I was embarrassed you can’t make me show a reindeer to THE LEGEND. And he said “you turn around and get that hat signed boy”? you signed it and shook my hand and it my head, the next night I watched you win in Atlanta. I was really upset when I came home from Atlanta the next night because my mom made me shower and wash my hand ?. You’re the man thanks for the memory?? my dad and I still talk about you

I used to do this to you uninvited under the PC tent. Lol I never got kicked out though. Think things were a little more laid-back back then. I remember I asked you for your phone number and you gave me your house phone number. I will call you almost every Monday after the race. Your mom wouldn’t answer and I would be like is Ricky there? “Sure hang on...” eventually my dad found out and he made me leave you alone. I was like dad you don’t understand we’re friends. He said “does Ricky know that?” Hahaha ??? ??♂️

Jeff Ward was my first MX hero! The first race I ever saw him was 1984 Atlanta SX. He signed my program (Supercross Yearbook). I was 9 yes old. Second time I met him was 1988 San Diego SX. He signed my Yearbook again! It was my 13th birthday. We went to San Diego because Fulton County Stadium was being torn down to make way for The Georgia Dome.

He was my favorite rider in the early 80s. I had to beg my dad to make custom all white gear so I could look just like @jeffward3x

It just goes to show; You never know who you are talking to. Which is one reason why you should always be good to everyone.
