Two of my favorite quotes from my dad: “The cool way is the hard way” & “You can’t control how you feel, but you can control your thoughts”. The last one he said the morning of his sudden death. I feel lucky the years I got. He was real. A good man. And led with spirit and kindness. And conviction. He made recycling cool in our little town. And loved the ocean & the environment & animals. He loved nature. When the surf wasn’t up he would bicycle or paddle. We often did it together. The longest he didn’t surf was ten days when he came to visit me in New York in my early acting days on All My Children. That’s a big sacrifice for a surfer. Eight years and I miss him all the same. This is his high school senior portrait. Not sure which one. He repeated his Senior year because he missed too many days surfing the first go around. #happyfathersday #ysiii
