I want to wish a very Happy Father's Day to all of the brave fathers out there...past, present, & future. We're here because our fathers (& mothers) were here, & I'm honored to have come from such a strong/courageous family, & especially proud to have come from this man right here ^...Quincy D. Jones I. Despite the way he was treated on the job, he never let it get in the way of taking care of my little brother Lloyd & I. He did whatever he had to do to keep us out of trouble, & it was because of his decision to move us from the Southside of Chicago to Bremerton, Washington that later led to my discovery of music. Not a single day passes that I don't think about him, but I know he is lookin’ down from above. Whether today is one of happiness or grief...I’m sending U all my big-time ❤️ & props!!

cstylemagchicago Omg! We grew up in the same neighborhood Mr. Jones. Just last year, IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) built their new headquarters right here on King Drive. I highly doubt that (even now) they have or accept many black people for the same type of jobs, for electric or building trades, even though they're sitting right in the heart of Bronzeville.

I was stationed in Bremerton Wa. at the military base in the early 1960s...it was a segregated town just like in the deep South - was refused service at the lunch counter of a Woolworths in center of town on Pacific Ave..will never forget this racist town...hope Quincy had better experiences there than I had...
