The Central Saint Martins BA Fashion History and Theory course studied photogrammetry at our London flagship store using this paper maquette of an evening coat from the Spring/Summer 2019 menswear collection. Photogrammetry is the science of taking measurements from a series of photographs to create a 3D model. Here it was used by students, working with digital capture company Cyreal, to capture details of the coat featuring embroidery of John Deakin’s 1950s photographs of graffiti on a life-sized paper model of the tailored coat.
This paper maquette and the final tailored coat is part of Unlocking Stories which is open to the public and provides complete access to the processes, stories, teamwork and materials that went into select looks from the Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2019 collection.
