Every year I wait for the summer to come and when it does I realize I forget how hard it is to balance work flow and spending time with your kid. Tell me how are you handling being busy and finding time to enjoy the shortest of all seasons? What’s your favorite thing to do during the summer?

folkeshi It will soon be summer holidays for my kid - he's in preschool. So far I have always tried to work a bit even on his holidays, but obviously that doesn't work well, I am not focused enough. So I booked him activities for 3 weeks - 3 weeks where I'll be working hard - and will enjoy the rest (6 weeks) with him! I have low ambitions - walking into the town and eat his favorite ice cream, go play (and maybe sketch? I need the training!) at the nearby park, take a few walk, finally paint these stones we found last summer, and enjoy the library's books! When I am alone, my kind of enjoyment is a good book. Usually I am happy for that special summer time... and glad to see September coming ?

lanarachkovskaya Working early mornings and nights. Also, try to give her “work” to do before lunch like reading, worksheets, etc. She also plays in her room for some time, which helps. The younger they, the harder it is to balance, of course. I would suggest a 3-hour camp in the morning. We have a lot of favorite things to do in the summer - sketching outdoors during our walks, swimming in the pool, berry picking and having plenty of time to read together. And, of course, traveling and going on little trips.

monteserenaarts I do, too. Still - it's nice to develop a flow to the day with your own interests instead of hopping to the school calendar. I loved those quiet afternoons when we'd all work on projects - and now it's quiet mornings, because thou shalt not wake the teenagers. Enjoy your summer! ?

bluecrowpaper Preaching to the choir! I wake up early, give my 6 year old some alone time, meet up after lunch and do something together. Balance is everything.
