Photo by Pete McBride @pedromcbride | Rocky Mountain Light Show: In Western cultures, most people have heard of the Irish leprechaun hiding his pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. Other belief systems find different meanings in this colorful symbol. In Chinese mythology, a rainbow marks a slit in the sky that the goddess Nüwa sealed with colored stones. It’s not all bright and sunny, though. For tribes throughout the Amazon, rainbows are associated with evil spirits, and the Karen people of Myanmar consider the rainbow to be a dangerous painted demon. Whatever your beliefs, there is no denying the beauty of a rainbow’s light refraction opposite of the sun. #Followme @pedromcbride for more wild places and double #rainbows.
