storytoldphoto So iconic 😍 I didn’t watch the Olympics or know about figure skating until I was 11. It was 2002. I watched @michellewkwan @sashacohennyc @sarahhughesnyc and @slutskayaofficial and was mesmerized. I still remember the Olympic commercials that year. I remember what I ate for dinner waiting to watch... it’s so crazy! My mom signed me up for classes that spring thinking it would just be a fun thing for me to do, but I took it full on and fell in love forever. I’m so grateful for a family that contributed so much to my love for this sport. And I am so thankful for such inspiring role models. Best years of my life on the ice. 💕

sarahscottie77 I remember sitting as a little girl in front of the tv (obsessed with figure skating) and just being amazed that you were so young, not that much older than me at the time and had made history all the way from Sugarland. You had so much life and joy and energy and it’s contagious! I watched over and over and would buy all your books and scour the internet on Netscape looking for articles and websites about skating and about you @taralipinski. It inspired me to always follow my dreams!

superangiekatja 1988 Calgary, although we still have a beach towel from 84. Gordeeva and Grinkov are the reason I started Skating. 1998 Olympics were incredible to watch. I loved your programs And then I was able to attend the 2002 SLC Olympics ( and I was able to meet you there).

kc7610 I rarely comment. But it was your Olympic win that made me love watching the olympics every year! I had a vhs tape and must have watched it 1000s of times of just your routine. I had the whole commentary memorized. Kinda makes me miss those vhs tape days

lfred04 My first Olympic memory was when I was 7 watching you win the gold! I remember crying because I was so happy, yet so confused because I didn’t know you could cry from happiness ??I was skating at the time and you were the ULTIMATE for me.
