Here he shows us Cupid arriving at his mother Venus’s bower, urging her to come and participate at a wedding—the visual equivalent of a marriage poem. Lotto doesn’t skip any of the possible details, including that of Cupid peeing through a wreath—a Renaissance symbol of fertility.”
