darrencabral Because minimum wage jobs are for entry level workers. Students. You’re not meant to stay there. If you’re still working minimum wage jobs by the time you need a 2 bedroom house that’s on you. My family were immigrants, started with nothing, missed many meals, worked 20 hours a day, climbed the ladder, even without English, and made a life for us all. Everyone has an opportunity get beyond minimum wage. So long as they put in more than minimum effort.

junobeach33 Rent/mortgage should only be 30% of your income. So a person making $40K can only afford $1K/month rent or mortgage payment. Affordable and DECENT housing is not available to people with these wages. How do we expect minimum wage to live on LESS????????

minnesotamamabear_1225 Minimum wage was meant for the beginner workers in high school and college. It was never meant for those to live off of. Unfortunately, a lot of people can’t move out of the minimum wage jobs and have to take what that can get but it’s not enough.
