Great minds think: @viktorandrolf
.
I remember being stage left watching jimmy jam announce Grammy winners, waiting for my category to be announced, getting high-school-physics-project-nervous. I couldn’t move each of my feet more than 6 inches forward at a time, on account of the rad, aforementioned dress/shoes combo. I remember asking the wonderful, @avigail.collins, if she thought anyone would be able to see my vagina if I had to walk up the stairs to the stage to accept an award. I think she assured me, “no,” though I am not sure she could possibly know the answer to that question. I was poised to only have to walk a few steps up, should my name be called, and meet one of my absolute heroes (@ジミー・ジャム and terry lewis, call me — that “rhythm nation” shit is industrial af), when all of a sudden, the awards podium went stage right! Shaggy began announcing the categories just before mine. “Fuck!!! How am I going to get over there in time?! I can’t walk up the center stairs and risk winning an impromptu “best rock vagina” award.” And then it was time. And @direalshaggy called my name and @ジャック・アントノフ’s name and it was so sweet and I felt like I was on a rad version of the price is right (viktor & Rolf edition) and jack didn’t see me because I was coming from stage left and I think he thought I hadn’t bothered to show. And I had to call his name across the big stage but my voice gets very high and breathy in those moments and it took him a second to register that I was behind him. And then we both gave speeches and it was the most nervous I’d ever seen either of us ever. And I had always rolled my eyes at actors when they win awards and say they don’t have a speech prepared and bend too far over the little microphone to breathlessly thank people but then I was there and I ALSO bent over the little microphone and i also didn’t have a speech prepared.
.
Anyway, @iamcardib looks amazing!!! Love her.

@deezy_deonster there’s a lot going on in the comments but one thing is people saying a. they don’t believe cardi has a great mind or b. annie is the superior mind because of her alternative, less sexual, etc themes. Basically Annie’s music is less black which makes sense because Annie is white and Cardi is black. I’m getting strong elitist vibes from a lot of these comments as if using less vulgar language and classical instruments makes you smarter. It just seems inherently racist. Black ppl are unintelligent, sex-obsessed, morally flawed thugs. Many people are also bringing up her drugging and robbing men. This was when Cardi was a stripper struggling to pay bills and feed herself. Men would agree to go back to a hotel with Cardi. Those who said she raped them are correct in a legal sense but any time you agree to go back to a hotel with a stripper... it’s kind of expected you would be having sex. Legally the statement still stands because under the influence you can not legally give consent. Those mad about her taking the man’s money or belongings; I think drugging the men made it a safer environment for her to what she was doing out of desperation. The murdering of black women is so common and widespread because of the hatred of us. Violence towards black women is high and has always been high. She was smart in a way to impair these men as it kept her safe. Nothing about what she did in that case was correct, it’s just the only way she saw out of her troubles. Many will call her a criminal among other things for doing that but most white people don’t experience a fraction of the poverty faced by black people. Therefore they’ve never had to find a quick way to get a months rent. It’s important to remember Cardi was also paying to make her music and that’s always unfathomably expensive but it paid off because eventually her dedication to music is what took her out of poverty. Didn’t really want to explain but you seemed genuinely interested.

@leannyy.r_ what’s awful about this is not that you think I’m white, but that without knowing enough about the situation, you reject victims claims. You’d think that after ‘Me Too’ people would start to trust victims rather than blindly stand up for celebrity image. Her music is a great representation of multi-race/ethnic culture, her actions (which you’ll probably hear more about later) not so much. I wonder how many other profiles your trolled with hate comments..
leannyy.r_
@ajaytsunami_ also dick sucker you wanna claim she raped people because it’s the popular thing to say but with allll the money she got now you don’t think a rape victim would speak up by now? Oh exactly.

@ajaytsunami_ you were the ugliest one in the comment I had to address but like I said she robbed people just like your fav rapper only difference is she is a woman with so much success you can’t take

I thought it was a refreshing moment. No scripted acceptance speech. Just down to earth. You looked amazing... and I can see how you would have been concerned about revealing a bit too much.😉
