What makes you feel comfortable?
Bhupen Khakhar, You Can't Please All 1981, Tate collection. You Can’t Please All was painted at Khakhar’s house in Baroda, India. The solitary figure on the balcony is a self-portrait of the artist. Shortly after making this painting Khakhar revealed that this painting represented him coming-out as a gay man. The difficulties he faced at the time are suggested by the work’s title.

Não sou Homossexual mas tenho muitos amigos que são pois sou aderecista no carnaval brasileiro e vejo a dificuldade que o gênero sexual sofre com a sociedade.

This was such a superb exhibition, one of my favourites. His use of colour and content really touched me.
