#MaybellineFunFact: Did you know @Maybelline New York was founded by LGBTQ makeup pioneer, Thomas Lyle Williams? It all started with a lash and brow product that was inspired by his sister Mabel Williams. After seeing her mix coal dust and Vaseline he took her Vaseline + charcoal formula further and turned it into the first mascara and brow product. Fast forward two years later, Maybelline was born. Also fun fact, Thomas was gay and was in a relationship with Emery Shaver, who worked on Maybelline’s advertising in Hollywood with Thomas. They kept their relationship under wraps because at the time they would have risked losing the company and disgracing the family, according to his great-niece Sharrie Williams who wrote the book, “The Maybelline Story and the Spirited Family Dynasty Behind It.” For #WorldPride we want to celebrate Thomas and Emery for their contribution to the beauty industry! melanieboudar Nobody else out there being sad about maybellines conception of how and for whom women are supposed to wear make up?? What a reminder for us why gender equality still is a long way off. And although being in line with overall perspective of make-up-wearing women, I guess that the ad caused excitement back then as there is a flavor for each of your guys ?

feliciano1551 I remember all this makeup from Maybelline my mother used to buy though heavy eyebrows they don't sell that no more and the lip glosses when they first came out all my God that was the Athenian School
