We’ve heard about several stories going viral of black people being prevented from working, competing, going to school, and doing pretty much anything with natural hair. Now, lawmakers in California have passed a bill potentially being the first state to protect black people from hair discrimination in both the office and public schools.
The state Assembly passed “the CROWN Act” which would prohibit enforcing grooming policies that unfairly affect people wearing braids, dreadlocks, and afros, and is now awaiting its final signature from Governor Gavin Newsom.
