I recently made posts to see people's reactions to controversial issues & found that posts about Chinese dog markets, or a list of Top 10 Most Dangerous Dogs found more emotion & reactions than images of the ugliest examples of human persecution. By even mentioning conflicts, I found there were the same variances of emotional response to every issue such as ill treated dogs vs lynched slaves, the growing empire of McDonald's vs killing of whales by native Icelandic fishermen, the conflicts of Nazis, Jews & Palestinians. Mention of those three words, sparks a huge emotions with people. But these discussions must be had. I have visited Israel & Palestinian territories, travelled from the Kinerit to The Dead Sea, mourned at the death camp of Dachau the holocaust site of Babi Ya, & shared glasses of heated wine at Christmas markets in Heidelberg, Nurnburg & Berlin. Humans at best are all beautiful. Race itself doesn't divide, the gross introspection of race divides. Of all the conflicting issues Ive posted people mostly respond with a huge feeling of victimized aggression or an opposite elation for being recognized - or an impassiveness because the subject doesn't effect their lives. Others supported the string of posts by reading between the lines - thank you. I'm making these posts because I believe it's important to talk about issues & given I travel a lot & get to see the world from many perspectives & cultural viewpoints, I want to share. I seek to learn from my travels & share concepts that rise in my consciousness in my posts. I totally understand the huge complexity & that mine is only an opinion with no validation. However social media really does enable debate. The challenging hurdle for humanity is embracing eachother with true empathy & hearing what is being said from the other side, from all sides & reaching beyond our programmed self defense to find solutions that allow peaceful discussion, despite differences. In a world where racial integration is no longer a question of when or part of a minority based issue, we face a defining future where the methods used for integration will either unite us or divide us again. Where do you stand on this?

@manubennett Animals rights are as much of an issue as human rights. They are directly intertwined in fact and affect each other proportionately. The basic fundamental humans rights today are already agreed upon to hold universal status of importance but where the division comes is when we don't extend it to other sentient beings, ie. animals used for food, entertainment, clothing etc. without rational basis. This is essentially human supremacism or 'anthropocentrism', which creates the division and is the underlying factor, for which human discrimination exists in the first place today. This links back to speciesism; the idea that human species has the right to exploit another species, although the interests and traits are equivalent, ie. sentience and the will to live. It all started with speciesism, before racism, sexism, anti-semitism, misogyny, classism and other forms of hatred arose. Animals have been exploited unnecessarily long before humans, do you see where I'm coming from? How animal products are derived are nowhere near the fundamentals of how we construct human rights. Slaughterhouse workers suffer high rates of PTSD and PITS, which has been connected to an increase in crime rates and domestic, alcohol and drug abuse. The large majority of the worlds grains go into feeding the 70 billion land animals reared for food, when we could be directly eating the plants and feeding the over 800 million people dying of hunger. Not to mention, livestock and their byproducts account for 51 % of greenhouse gas emissions, driving global warming and will possibly lead to the next mass species extinction. How about our most common killers of humans; heart disease, type 2 diabeters, strokes, certain forms of cancers, being caused by our animal product eating society?
Animals rights doesn't divert away from humans rights in any way, shape or form. It directly supports it and aims to reform it (veganism).

@manubennett “animals...a diversion based upon giving up on human values”. I worked with a woman during the Columbine school shootings in the news. She only worked 1/2 days bc she had to watch the 24 hour news feed about it but she publicly mocked grown men at work bc of their reading skills and their education level day after day after day. People have a lot of diversions from caring about people they are in daily contact with. Not just animals. Sometimes it’s just their lack of empathy. Or worried they will insult someone by defending someone else. I get what your saying in your original post. People do avoid caring about difficult issues. You don’t and I like reading your posts.

It's taken me many years and conversations to come to the understanding that humans are innately very selfish creatures, and learning to overcome this is one of the most valuable lessons we can ever learn in order to treat all living creatures of every species with kindness, consideration and respect, including our own. I'm far from perfect and make mistakes but I try to get it right and make amends even when the person I've treated poorly has been unaware of it if I can, but I know none of us can possibly be spot on 100% of the time. Thankyou for using your social media platform to encourage others to think, in my eyes you are doing a great job ??

Mr. Manu Bennett, I appreciate what you do with social media, it can be so superficial and some celebs too. In your case, I was in for a good surprise! I began to follow you in FB because I saw you were and are interested in learning as much as possible of the places you visit and, the other thing that surprised me in such a positive way, your family too! Whenever you can, you also take them too! My impression was, this man is really smart! So, I am glad that, such a person as you, is making his contribution to make us think in the most important reason why we are here on planet Earth: to make it a better place.
