Reading through these comments and I’m seeing valid points for both sides of the argument.
The LGBT+ community have gone through rough times in the past, that cannot be denied, but over the last 15 years I have noticed a huge shift, and apart from the a tiny minority consisting of the least educated and tolerant in our society, I can’t say I’ve ever witnessed someone who is LGBT+ being treated differently to anybody else.
I have, however, visited a number of ‘gay’ bars on many occasions and have been treated differently because I am a straight male, either through gay men forcing themselves upon me and having zero respect for my boundaries when I insist they stop, or with lesbian’s who appear to have zero tolerance for straight men, as though we are all tarred with the same brush. The fact that I am a very open minded and accepting person doesn’t seem to matter if I’m a straight white male to others.
Why am I not presented with the same level of acceptance that some of these people demand we have for them?
I also see a huge agenda being pushed, both by the media and on TV..... all too often now it is the ‘white man’ who is portrayed as the ‘bad guy’ in TV shows, with there being an alarming disproportionate number of mixed race or gay couples (to what is typically seen in the real world) and women playing power parts.
Whilst I’m by no means against seeing this, I do feel it’s being pushed too blatantly and the quality of the shows are suffering because they’re trying to cater too hard to please minorities instead of just keeping things ‘believable’. I notice some people stating that they feel stigmatised nowadays for being a straight white male.... and many of you are dismissing these comments. But give it another 15 years and I’m positive that their sentiments will be felt by many more.
We should all be fully accepting of one another’s differences and it certainly should not be a one way street where those who demand acceptance don’t give the same back in return. We should all deserve equal rights and equal say in all matters.

I am not Homophobic, but seeing all the nasty comments from those of you calling straight ppl “homophobes”, makes me feel like I am supporting the wrong people.. maybe the Rainbow Brigade are the real haters in this world.. your comments are opening my eyes to how hateful you can be while calling out hate from others.. hypocrite is a word that comes to mind.. thanks Reedus for clearing this up for me ??

Yes when all of the celebrities pander to a small minority of people which is mostly honestly quite degenerate for corporate profit. Apparently the majority of a population being straight is bad? you do realize you need a good birth rate to replenish the population for sustainability?

Why is it anyone else’s business if someone is gay, straight, bi, or whatever?!?! How does it affect your day to day life? It doesn’t, so what business is it of yours? Just let people do what they want! As long as they’re consenting adults, just stop with the hate!

If you notice the majority of people saying “what a about straight month” are men. Fragile masculinity.
