In the days following Karl Lagerfeld’s memorial service held inside Paris’s Grand Palais, just before the @シャネル couture show in Paris today, one of Lagerfeld’s closest confidantes and colleagues thought lovingly about her own memories of him and his designs. Stylist
@carlynecerfdedudzeele was instrumental in helping Lagerfeld craft a new identity for Chanel in the ’90s, one marked by supermodels like Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer wearing tweed and miniskirts and matching jackets, along with hefty layers of gold chain necklaces.
Along the way, Cerf de Dudzeele picked up her own custom tweeds, quilted bags, and costume jewelry, which she wears often and with great pride (usually accompanied by a pair of monogrammed track pants). Cerf de Dudzeele keeps Lagerfeld with her in these precious pieces of fashion, in the little tokens of their friendship that he made for her with his own two gloved hands and a lot of love.
To honor her friend, Cerf de Dudzeele photographed four other women in Chanel for Vogue. At the link in our bio, see their photos and more details. These are the things Lagerfeld left behind, on the Chanel muses who loved him most.
