There was something rather delicate the way he moved atop branches along the side of the road between Bukhara and Samarkand, his buddies leg stretched like a dancer. These two men were trimming fur‘s to have more sunlight reach mulberry trees when I asked @aziz_khalmuradov to stop the car as we drove across Uzbekistan a few years ago. Mulberries are used to feed silkworms to produce silk, and as luck would be, we were along the old Silk Road in Uzbekistan working on a story about this ancient route. You can’t expect these chance moments of story narrative to occur. It just happens.
