digitalchica People please!!!! Not all of our ancestors came to America via slave ships. Not all of our ancestors were slaves. Not all of out ancestors were forced to fight during the civil war, some volunteered while some of those received their promised freedom. Them there were free Black men in women who fought during various wars which also created a pathway to citizenship.
