AfriCat welcomes Kevin & Mandy Richardson to the Hobatere Consession and the Conservancies where we work.
.
Early Tuesday morning they were whisked away into the dusty 'outback' of the Ehirovipuka Conservancy bordering western Etosha National Park.
.
World Lion Day 2019 is around the corner, 10th August 2018, celebrated the @kevinrichardsonfoundation ’s support of AfriCat's "Protect our Pride" Initiative, which includes, amongst others Lion proof, fixed and mobile Kraal’s.
.
They met with our Lion Guards as well as community members to gage the extend of AfriCat's support as well as experiencing first hand the extreme effects of the most debilitating drought in memory.
.
Areas that one year ago could support both wildlife and livestock has now been reduced to a dust bowl riddled with livestock carcasses.
.
The extensive drought may soon effect lion movement as wildlife migrate in search of the last remaining morsels of food.
.
Despite the dire circumstances it was refreshing to hear of the communities gratitude and appreciation of AfriCat's support.
.
Kevin's rapport with the Lion Guard's continues to instil passion, encouraging them in their challenging tasks.
.
Today they went out in search of one of our Lionesses who is taking care of the Hobatere North Pride’s 5 cubs, whilst Naleli and Sidatia are hidden away at their den site.

utzczr @marianellaghitis. Originally we had planned to stay at Kevin’s bush camp and had put down a deposit. However they ended up closing their camp and Mandy suggested we stay at the Mongena Game Lodge located in the Dinokeng Game Reserve, which was wonderful. The Sanctuary sent a Safari vehicle to pick us up and return us to our lodge after the Sanctuary tour. Contact Mandy. She is super helpful and accommodating.

utzczr @marianellaghitis, I spent a day at Kevin’s Sanctuary in March 2019. It was well worth it. It’s magical seeing all the animals we’ve all come to know and love in person. Almost all came directly to the fence. It was wonderful. If you have the chance you should definitely do it.

marianellaghitis I will be visiting Southafrica march next year , and would love to visit your sanctuary and show my daughters the wonderful work you and your team do. Is it possible?
