Mountain lions Koya & Kima (pictured) came to us in 2006 and 2007, respectively, after they were found orphaned in the wild. Now they give our guests a chance to experience these majestic cats, which frequently roam the hills just east and north of San Diego. 📷: Penny Hyde #prettypuma #ghostcat #caturday #catstagram #pumasofinstagram #sandiegozoo

And if you want to see them in the East, there are two orphaned cubs at the Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park in Florida. In Florida they are called Florida Panthers, but they are the same animals. The two panthers there were rescued as babies and are now full-grown.

@boochiekel we have mountain lions in our canyon & hills! Have you seen the sign at the end of our street & going down the trail? Mt. Lion habitat. We just don’t want to run into them again! We have enough wildlife in our yard now! No thank you ??

When we were there, the female did not like a guy in a wheel chair, she was growling and jumping at him. He needed to move on, it was upsetting to me that he stayed as long as he did. After they left she calmed down. Such big beautiful cats! ?

They are so special because they are our own indigenous big cats. I know lots of children from East Africa and I tell them that we have lions here, too. They are completely surprised.
