American travel to #Cuba has dwindled with tightened travel restrictions by the #Trump admin., many business owners say. The decline in travel has led to a decline in business. One business owner, Alejandro Martín-Ramos, has to work 14-hour days just to keep his head above water, paying taxes, fees, and all the maintenance a 1950s car requires.
.
Every morning Ramos parks his 1953 pink #BelAir in front of #Havana’s Central Park, one of the most touristy neighborhoods in Cuba’s capital, and waits for tourists to hop in for a whirl around the city.
.
Ariel Causa, who co-founded AlaMesa, a website and app used to make restaurant reservations throughout Cuba, said the U.S. policy has been constraining.
.
“When the U.S. Treasury Dept. announces new measures, we get cancellations the next day,” Causa said. Click the link in our bio to read more.

I travelled to Cuba, this past May.I saw all these classic cars which are everywhere in Havana.especially by the cruise terminals.Al these cars have to be sanctioned by the Cuban Govnt, and require a medallion seal. These taxi drivers who are private contractors, make more than the average Cuban citizen, and they are allowed to keep their tips.Still, the upkeep of these old cars are very expensive.Americans are still allowed to fly to Cuba, along with cruise lines from Canada, and Europe. The average Cubans are given a stipen of 30 dollars a month by the Cuban Govnt, and all food, and gas is rationed, and the Cuban people live in squalor, yet this is all they know. While we were taken to the nice parts of Havana on our 4 HR.tour,I was not prepared for the extreme poverty.

So sad. We were there a few months ago on a cruise to Havana. The only people suffering are everyone but the military. The people we met were so thankful we were there because it gave them hope that something might change. But the lack of infrastructure and building materials is going to take much more than a few cruise ships docking overnight.

My tour bus guide was very nice, and proud to be Cuban. We drove past Central Park which is very beautiful, while on our tour of Havana. We also saw the historic fort, where you can buy Cuban rum,and cigars, and Christ of Havana which overlooks the Bay of Cuba.

We were there last January and found the Cubans friendly and our discussions informative. The Trump administration has made it difficult for them for no real reason.

Sad state of affairs. Cuba should have stayed out of the mess in Venezuela, and maybe this might not have happened.
