📖 Cette collection fut offerte en 1942 et entre au musée à la mort du donateur. Celle-ci est composée de nombreux portraits de peintres très divers : anonyme bourguignon du XVe siècle, Rubens, Van Dyck, Largillierre, Drouais, Fragonard, Goya, Gérard, Ingres, Meissonnier, Zuloaga, David, etc.

🔎 Hormis le portrait du jeune Napoléon Bonaparte, les modèles représentés sont pour la plupart anonymes. Cependant chaque portrait se distingue par des effets de matière et une recherche subtile de couleurs.

🔎 Excepted the portrait of the young Napoleon Bonaparte, the other sitters are not well known. However, each portrait is striking for their textural effects and the subtle use of colour.
