toku_09 @edward_danilyuk lower divisions clearly don’t have the economics of higher regardless of the sport or gender. With regards to the women’s game they don’t have the revenue generation of the men’s game because more money has been spent promoting the men’s game. Until we make conscious choices to change that and put equal amounts of money into the Womens game it’s not going to magically get prime time TV spots or bigger brand sponsorships. You can’t expect the best female athletes to stick to football where it’s hard to earn a living and for that reason when more money is spent it attracts the best talent and the imagination of fans and the $ of brands.

Wouldn’t you agree that broadcasters/promoters of soccer games (or any other sport) will promote whatever they believe will get the greatest return on their money? At the end of the day, it’s a business, and profit for shareholders is the only thing that matters. Now, with that in mind, promoters have figured out that the ROI (return on money) is much greater on men’s games than woman’s games. People are naturally inclined to watch men play soccer. Evolution dictates that biologically men are more physically competitive, thus possibly making games more interesting, I don’t know..
