One of the greatest rescue stories you’ll ever hear. ❤️🐱🙌🏻
I’m on the phone with @ヒラリー・スワンク as she’s driving to her @hilaroofoundation a camp for foster/disadvantaged youth/rescue dogs. She’s on the 405 freeway and begins to yell, “oh my, oh my god, NO, NO, NO!” My first thought was she had witnessed a person get hurt, but as she put the phone down, I could hear her say “oh no, it’s a little kitten!!!” and then the phone went dead. Next, she sends me a text of this little kitten, in her lap. She calls me seconds later and explains Good Samaritan’s were trying to help this cat, as she then watched it dart across all lanes of traffic, under and through several vehicles going 60mph and must have been hit. He scurried into a storm drain, where Hilary then found him, stuck, head first. By the Grace of Dog, Hilary was able to catch the kitten fella, save his life and then started to coordinate with me for next steps. The entire story was incredible, including the fact that the only other person to stop was an 80 year old veteran, who was basically ready to go to battle for the cat and stop traffic on the 405 and 101 interchange!
Next, @tyemohawk, @missaint and I headed down there to pick him up, take him to the vet and make sure he’s ok. Our friends at tehachapi vet let us in after hours to care for him, which was great, and as I speak, he’s still sleeping in his little crate, after having breakfast at dawn. He’s a feral cat, but already doing so much better and getting comfortable with my touch. His name is Hilaroo and he’s the newest member of Marley’s Mutts cat program, @marleysmittens! I’ll be transferring him to foster today with our pal Allison.
Only in rescue! What a stupendous team effort!
