“The Abandoned Arawak Hotel hidden along the Grand Lucayan Waterway in the Bahamas. This hotel has sat abandoned for over 25 years. The area was mostly undeveloped, we were worried about getting to the hotel. Luckily my friends and I had a very friendly cab driver who picked up her brother, he knew exactly how to get to the resort, shouts out to him for driving off the set path, dodging trees and other debris in the old road to take us right up to the front doors of the hotel! Grateful they stuck around for us to get our photos and get us back to where we needed to be. Such a cool feeling finding photos on google of the hotel then being able to witness the place first hand . One of my personal most memorable explores ever” Photography by @mikeyyniikes .

Per google:The Arawak Hotel is nestled along the Grand Lucayan Waterway, an area that is mostly undeveloped. The hotel has been abandoned for over 25 years. A financial economic difficulty began to occur for the hotel industries of the Bahamas in the 1980’s. The price of operating hotels was costing too much and not returning investments. This along with the growth of competitive tourism to Cancun, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Aruba, affected the prosperity in the Bahamas.

@ana_be_thy_name I’ve been here! This is on the same island my grandparents lived for 30 years. We went there in probably the mid nineties. I distinctly remember the pool water being bright neon green/muck and walking up to an empty/open pitch black elevator shaft and looking down. Where the hell were my parents when I did that? ? It was spooky and fun!

Did you go in? Do you have more photos? Do you know more about the history

It’s not abandoned. Just got a call for an Amway meeting on the 3rd floor.
