Nothing better than the big, open walls of #JBay. Fun day today and hoping for some more solid waves this week. Spent the afternoon talking with the girls and crew with @surfersnotstreetchildren, #BrittMerrick, and lots of surf fans. I’ve also been shell hunting and meditating. All these things go together very cohesively at J-Bay. 🙂

@kellyslater I know you to stand up and bring the word to help marginalized people, one more time with this one my Brother! Some of the many important things to consider in addition to Mauna Keas enormous cultural significance:
TMT would be the 14th telescope on Mauna Kea in an area that is classified as conservation land. Environmental Analysis on the 13 observatories (two of which are now outdated and obsolete) concluded their cumulative impact continues to be ecologically, geologically and culturally “substantial, significant and adverseâ€. TMT would only add to that.
Mauna Kea has already sustained unintentional chemical oil and 1,000 gallons of sewage spillage from the other observatories as recently as 2008.
Environmental Impact Statement determined that construction of the 30 meter telescope and facilities would have a broader impact of 6 football fields, requiring the disruption and removal of land 20 feet below ground.
This isnt new. Opposition from both native Hawaiian and local communities has been voiced since similar projects proposed in the 90's.
TMT financial backing includes primarily foreign investment seeking to compete amongst other similar telescopes being built elsewhere in the world. This technology already exists and is being used in the world. Why more? Why is it necessary here?
The University of Hawaii is a major contributor which presents a conflict of interest being that they seek to be both developer and land use manager.
Permitting for the construction of this telescope has already been approved without public opposition in the Canary Islands.
Construction of TMT would require roughly 10 years and $1.4 billion. In that amount of time technology will have changed making these plans outdated.
Hawaii county zoning only allows 6 story buildings. TMT would be 18 stories in height.
The statewide social division and outrage already arising from this development are more than enough reason to question the benefit and larger impact on Hawai’is communities moving into the future.

Those guys have tried to sue for 100s of millions since 2013 and have been booted out of court for lying to a judge who didn't find them credible. The movie was to try and get an appeal. There is proof they lied from their own court documents there is no proof Mj ever touched them. . They changed their story 5x. Have copy pasted their story from a discredited book. . The train station wasn't even built yet and Mj was out of town when they say they were abused . To. believe them you have to.believe in time travel and cloning. He is caught asking his mom about his memories he lied about the Grand Canyon. And the estate and was caught This movie is a pure one sided extortion please watch the other side. mj has never harmed a child. He was acquitted on 14 counts and investigated by the FBI who found nothing along with 20 other dept Wade also dated Brandi jackson for 8 years Mj set them up. @kellyslater don’t you think it’s kinda crazy we haven’t got to see Gabriel, or italo open up on there frontside this year yet or watch jjf , you and Toledo go backside??? Something needs to be done, having 5 rights to kick the season off isn’t right. Let me know what ya think ????

Champ the people of Hawaii need you and your social media power, last year you and a lot of the world were against building on Mauna Kea on the big island. One year later and they forgot everything we told them, please spread the awareness no more adding telescopes to Mauna Kea.
